Short version: AdBlocker Shield does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. All blocking statistics and settings are stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. We have no servers, no backend, and no way to access your data even if we wanted to.

1. What We Collect

We collect nothing. AdBlocker Shield does not collect any personal information, usage data, browsing history, IP addresses, or any other identifying information from its users.

The extension does store the following locally on your own device:

Block counts (lifetime + session) Blocked domain names (not full URLs) Your extension settings Whitelisted domains you add Minutes of attention saved (estimated)

None of this information ever leaves your device. It is stored using the chrome.storage.local API which is only accessible to the extension running on your browser.

2. What We Never Collect

To be absolutely clear, AdBlocker Shield never collects, stores, or has access to:

Full URLs you visit Page content Search queries Form inputs or passwords Cookies or session data IP address or location Device information Your identity or name Financial information Browser fingerprint

3. Backend Infrastructure

AdBlocker Shield has no backend server infrastructure for data collection. There is no database, no analytics pipeline, and no data ingestion system.

The extension operates entirely within your browser using:

  • chrome.declarativeNetRequest — Chrome's native API for blocking network requests using locally-stored rules
  • chrome.storage.local — For storing your settings and statistics locally on your device
  • Content scripts — JavaScript that runs in your browser to remove ad elements from pages
  • chrome.notifications — For milestone notifications (displayed locally, no data sent)

4. Third-Party Services

AdBlocker Shield uses the following third-party services in its user interface only:

  • Google Fonts — We load the Inter and JetBrains Mono fonts from Google's CDN. This is a standard web font request and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. To avoid this, you may use the extension offline after fonts have cached.
  • Chrome Web Store — The extension is distributed through and governed by Google Chrome's extension policies.

We do not integrate any analytics services, crash reporting tools, or advertising networks into AdBlocker Shield.

5. Chrome Web Store Ratings

If you choose to leave a rating or review for AdBlocker Shield on the Chrome Web Store, that review is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and is submitted directly to Google, not to us. We receive no personal data from this process.

6. Data Security

Because we collect no personal data and store all information locally on your device, your data is protected by Chrome's security model. Chrome's storage API encrypts stored data as part of your browser profile. We cannot access, retrieve, or breach this data.

7. Children's Privacy

AdBlocker Shield does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The extension collects no data whatsoever, making it safe for use by users of any age.

8. Deleting Your Data

Since all data is stored locally, you can delete it at any time by:

  • Resetting session stats in the extension dashboard
  • Uninstalling the extension from Chrome, which removes all locally stored data permanently
  • Clearing Chrome's extension data from Chrome Settings → Privacy → Clear Browsing Data

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy that affect how data is handled (such as introducing a new feature that collects information), we will update this page with the new effective date and notify users through the extension itself. Given our commitment to zero data collection, we do not anticipate significant changes.

10. Open Ruleset

AdBlocker Shield's 161+ network blocking rules are auditable and transparent. The filtering rules are stored in the extension's filters/rules.json file. This file contains only domain patterns for blocking — no user data.
