Privacy Policy

Who we are

AI Session Buddy is a Chrome browser extension built for personal productivity. It is developed and maintained as an independent project. You can reach us at certifypro.technology@gmail.com.

What data the extension stores

The extension stores the following data — only on your own device, using Chrome's built-in storage APIs:

• Your saved browser sessions (window and tab URLs, titles, tab group names)
• Activity log records (domain visited, time spent, category, date — no page content)
• Time Machine snapshots (URLs and titles of open tabs at snapshot time)
• Research Board items (URLs, notes, and highlighted text you explicitly save)
• Knowledge graph nodes (browsing categories and durations)
• Your settings and preferences (tracking toggles, digest schedule, retention settings)

None of this data is ever transmitted to any server, API, or third party. It exists only in chrome.storage.local, chrome.storage.sync (settings only, synced via your Chrome account), and IndexedDB — all stored locally in your browser.

Network requests

AI Session Buddy makes no outbound network requests during normal operation. There is one user-triggered exception:

• Broken Link Checker in Tab Utilities: when you click "Check Links," the extension sends HTTP HEAD requests to the URLs in your saved sessions to test if they are still reachable. This only happens when you explicitly trigger it, and only checks URLs already in your own saved data.

The extension popup displays favicons for your currently open tabs. These favicon images are sourced from Chrome's own internal cache — the extension does not make separate requests for them.

chrome.storage.sync

Your settings (tracking toggles, retention days, digest schedule) are stored using chrome.storage.sync, which Chrome may synchronize across your own devices via your Google account if you have Chrome sync enabled. This is a Chrome platform feature — AI Session Buddy has no visibility into or control over this sync. No third party receives this data.

What we do not collect

• No names, email addresses, or account information
• No IP addresses or location data
• No page content, text, or passwords
• No analytics about how you use the extension
• No crash reports or telemetry
• No advertising identifiers

Permissions explained

AI Session Buddy requests the following Chrome permissions, each with a specific purpose:

• tabs / windows — to read and restore your open tabs and windows
• tabGroups — to preserve and restore Chrome tab groups
• storage / unlimitedStorage — to save sessions, activity logs, and snapshots locally
• alarms — to schedule background tasks (30-min snapshots, 8 PM digest, 3 AM cleanup)
• activeTab — to inject the Research Board capture widget only when you click "Save to Research Board" in the popup
• scripting — required to execute the capture widget on the active tab

The extension does not request host_permissions. It cannot access page content on any site automatically — only on the specific tab you are on when you click "Save to Research Board."

Data deletion

You can delete all data at any time. Open the extension dashboard → Settings → Privacy & Data → "Delete All Data & Reset." This wipes all stored sessions, activity logs, snapshots, research items, knowledge nodes, and settings, and resets the extension to a fresh state.

Children's privacy

AI Session Buddy does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. Since the extension collects no data at all, there are no special provisions needed.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published here with a new effective date. Because the extension collects no data, any future changes would only ever relax, not expand, what is described here.
